A Prowl into My Ferociously Hectic Schedule & How I Keep it Up

As you might already know, I’m not a full-time blogger. I have about a million other things going on as well. Which, can sometimes create an insanely busy blogging schedule. Between working a full-time job, going to the gym 5ish days a week, taking care of my health & maintaining a relationship, sometimes even I wonder how I have time for it all.

It’s a good thing I love to stay busy. I’m definitely one of those people that goes a little stir-crazy if I’m left for long periods of time with nothing that needs to get done. However, I still like to take time out for myself. And if I’m on vacation, forget it—no work is getting done at all.

My Busy Blogging Schedule is Only Part of My Ferociously Hectic World

First of all, I work a 9-5pm copywriting job. So, I’m tied up at an office for 8-hours every day. Although that’s a good chunk of my time, I have found ways to work around it. For example, if I have an article that’s due or a photo shoot I need to squeeze in, sometimes I use my hour-long lunch break to power through. Okay, it’s actually more often than “sometimes.”

I’d rather get things done during the day so that by the time I get home, I have more time for other things. Like, going to the gym, catching up on a favourite show or reading a fabulous book. Of course, I still have to sit down at my computer for a few hours every night to get shit done, but it doesn’t feel like work. I think that’s the trick:

When you find something you love doing, it doesn’t feel like work.

Of course, it’s important to remember to take breaks. Even if you love what you’re doing, you still need to take time out for yourself. One way I love to take time for myself is by doing yoga. I go to three yoga classes per week and it’s so refreshing to have an entire hour to yourself. Plus, it’s fantastic for your mind, body and soul. Oh, and I also rarely work on Sundays. After all, it’s a day of rest—and magazines, coffee, manicures & face masks.

Here’s what a typical day looks like for me:

7:30am: Wake up, check my emails & social media.
8am: Get ready for work.
8:30am: Leave for work.
9am: Arrive at the office & settle in at my desk.
1pm: Lunch break time! Either I’ll work for an hour on a blog post or freelance article, or I’ll read a book.
2pm: Back to my job for the rest of the afternoon.
5pm: Head home, maybe pick up some groceries or run errands along the way.
6pm: Have a snack and go to a class at the gym.
7:30pm: Back at home. Have dinner and start my computer. I’ll usually have a show on in the background while I’m working on whatever needs to get done.
10pm: My computer gets shut down by 10:00pm so I can get ready for bed, read a couple of chapters and just unwind from my busy day.
11:30pm: Beauty rest time!

Then, sometimes there are events in the evening or I’m out catching up with friends. Be prepared to be flexible with your routine. Also, perfect your time management skills! It’s essential to be able to prioritize your work, limit your procrastination and be able to stay focused.

How do you handle a busy blogging schedule?
