These Paws Are on Pause! Reflecting Back on 6 Years of The Lady-like Leopard

Paws on Pause | The Lady-like Leopard

After much thought and consideration, I’ve decided to put these paws on pause. At least for the next little while. I’m not saying it’s forever (according to Jazmine Sullivan, forever don’t last) but after 6 years of writing and maintaining The Lady-like Leopard blog, it’s time to take a leap back. My heart and soul has been poured into this blog. I’m sure anyone who’s been keeping up from the start has some idea of the dedication and ferocious love I’ve put into my leopard lifestyle.

I’ve had many fierce fashion adventures over the years. As we move into a new decade, a new chapter, and a new wild ride, I want to look back at some of The Lady-like Leopard’s fiercest moments. Will you roar with me?

My leopard blog’s fierce start

As you all most likely already know, my blog began in Sydney, Australia. I was studying journalism at the time and one of our assignments was to start a blog and write a post every dayyou know, to really get into the habit. After a few glasses of bubbling champagne at fashion week, I came up with the name and my leopard blog was born! Since then, it’s leaped, bounded, and preyed in cities all over the world. It’s come a long way from the blog it once was and I’m so proud of it.

A blog nomination

Just a few short years after creating The Lady-like Leopard, it was nominated for a blogging award in Toronto. Even though I didn’t win, it was still a huge honour to be nominated. A lot of people don’t realize the time, dedication, and extremely hard work that goes into maintaining a blog. It’s not always fun, games, and partiesalthough, those are major components as well.

Helping me make friends

When I first moved to Toronto, I didn’t have a single friend who lived in the city. Moving to a new city is scary enough, but for a social butterfly like yours truly, it was even scarier. Through my blog, I started emailing PR companies and asking to be included on lists for events. Eventually, I worked up the courage to attend a few parties alone and got to chatting with complete strangers. I ended up meeting one of my best friends in the city just by randomly sitting down on a bench next to him. You never know who you might meet.

Upgrading my personal style

People have often said to me that I alienate people from reading my blog because it focuses on animal prints. Of course, not everyone likes or feels confident enough to wear animal prints. However, I don’t believe that’s true. Even if you can’t stand leopard, I think you could appreciate the fierce way in which I choose to rock it. Maybe that’s conceited. Or maybe it’s just the truth. One thing that I do know is that my personal style has undergone a major upgrade since I started blogging. I feel like I’ve finally found my true style. And it’s only getting better from here.

Saving some $$$

This is a bit of a taboo subject, and friends have often warned me against talking about it online. But the truth is: blogging can actually help you save money. For example, did you know that I haven’t had to buy a new mascara in 6 years? Or face masks. Or even leopard print heels? My bank account has definitely loved my blog.

Providing me with fierce opportunities

Oh my God, I don’t even know where to start with this one. From fashion shows to cocktail parties, hotel stays, and more beauty products than I could ever dream of, blogging has been a major provider of fierce opportunities. Without The Lady-like Leopard, I wouldn’t have discovered half of the highlighters that I have or built up my shoe collection to the mountain it is today. I also wouldn’t have had the chance to stay at one of the most glam hotels in New York City or consumed an entire ocean of complimentary champagne. I’m thankful for every opportunity.

Keeping my creativity flowing

I always say that I think I’d go completely insane without my blog as a creative outlet. And while that has been true for the past six years, I’m ready to move on. However, not completely or forever. I just want to take a bit of a step back and focus on other interests. Like, writing my first novel. So, for now these paws are on pause but I promise this isn’t going to be the last time you hear The Lady-like Leopard roar.
