Staying with Library Hotel Collection in New York is Heavenly & Here’s Why

As a writer, I’m a huge fan of anything to do with books—and that includes, Library Hotel Collection. On a recent trip to New York City, André and I checked into Library Hotel and then Hotel Elysée for a fun-filled tourist weekend. Of course, we had a massive reason to celebrate: his 30th birthday! And there was no better way to spend it than sipping wine, lounging in bed and exploring these two gorgeous hotels in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.

First of all, these hotels were an obvious choice because of a few things: late check out times, a variety of complimentary services and of course, excellent locations. However, nothing could have prepared us for how fabulous they were actually going to be. From morning to night, our stay was a delicious slice of hotel heaven. And we fiercely ate it up.

Night One: Library Hotel

On our first night in The Big Apple, we stayed at Library Hotel by Library Hotel Collection. I purposely planned our flights so that we’d arrive at the hotel just in time for their happy hour (every day from 5-8pm). After all, is anything more welcome after a flight than aged cheese and chilled, sparkling wine? It was the perfect way to curb our hunger before heading out for dinner.

Library Hotel describes themselves as being a “thought-provoking experience” and I would most definitely agree. And if you love reading or writing, it’s even more so. There are book references everywhere—from the library filing system behind the front desk and the books that line the shelves in your room, to the appropriately named Bookmarks rooftop bar where even the cocktails hide cheeky hints of famous literature.

I had the pleasure of enjoying a Tequila Mockingbird.

From the hotel, we were able to easily walk to the New York Public Library, Grand Central Station and Times Square. Their ultra-convenient location helped us save some of the money we would have spent on cabs and allowed us to spend more on Dough doughnuts and White Girl Rosé instead. It was a total win/win situation. Plus, all the walking we did helped burn it all off. Or a fraction of it anyway.

We stayed in the “Logic” room on the 11th floor. It was the ideal size for two people and all of their outfits—err, my outfits anyways. Also, strategically placed mirrors help it seem even roomier. Oh, and one of the cutest touches? Along with Belgian chocolates, they dropped off a weather report with the turndown! We were sad to check out the next morning but excited to see what waited for us at Hotel Elysée.

Night Two: Hotel Elysée

Night two was spent at Hotel Elysée. To say that our jaws hit the perfectly plush carpet upon entering our room would be a gross understatement. I felt like I’d died and gone to a romantic, Parisian paradise! Our Grand King Suite more than lived up to its name; it was the perfect merging of vintage elegance with modern essentials. And don’t even get me started on the bathroom—green marble, gold faucets, two sinks and the most divine toiletry essentials.

The impressive suite was complete with a living room, dining area, desk space, a dazzling bedroom, a gigantic closet and of course, the larger than life bathroom. It felt like we were actually living there and not just spending the night. We were able to really settle in and feel like we were coming home. (I wish.)

From Hotel Elysée, we walked to Central Park, Rockefeller Centre and Fifth Avenue for a little shopping.

Once we got back to the hotel, we were exhausted. So, we went straight to the wine & cheese reception. I’m telling you, chilling out with drinks and snacks after a long day out in the city is the best way to relax! And to get ready for the night ahead. We tried not to overeat because we were saving our appetites for dinner at Joanne Trattoria, a must visit.

It was raining on the morning we woke up in our king-sized bed, so we slipped on our hotel slippers and went down to grab breakfast: poppy seed bagels with cream cheese, fruit salad and coffee. (Tip: If you’d rather eat breakfast in your room, you can ask for a tray to easily carry everything up.) We also indulged in a few pastries and André had a mini box of Frosted Flakes too. There were too many mouth-watering options to resist trying them all.

We spent the rest of the rainy morning just lounging around, enjoying the room. When it was time to check out and say goodbye to our heart-stopping suite, we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel while we finished up the rest of our day in New York.
