See Toronto Now! A Weekend Discovering the City’s Hot Spots

See Toronto Now Tourist Weekend | The Lady-like Leopard

Sometimes we get so caught up in our daily lives that we completely forget to stop and take a look around us. And that’s exactly what inspired me to see Toronto now! I’ve lived here for over five years now and there’s so much that I haven’t seen or done. Even André who has lived here all of his life hadn’t done everything that we did on our tourist weekend.

Do you ever feel like that? There is so much to do and see in this city and it’s a shame to let its beauty go to waste. I want to soak it all up! From the spectacular views at the CN Tower to getting lost (not literally) in the Museum of Illusions, here’s what we got up to with our Toronto Attractions Passport.

See Toronto Now! Our Passport to a Tourist Weekend in the City

CN Tower

I hadn’t been to the CN Tower since I first moved to the city. After all, I figured that if I’d been once, I didn’t need to go again. However, the view from the top of the tower is so magnificent that it felt like I was seeing it again with fresh eyes. The only thing I was hesitant about was the glass floor. But since learning it could hold the weight of 35 moose, I felt a little bit better.

The Lady-like Leopard at Ripley's Aquarium

Ripley’s Aquarium

Growing up on the west coast fostered my fascination and obsession with sea creatures. I love anything to do with the ocean, and so I felt very at home at Ripley’s Aquarium. Seeing all the beautiful fish, jellyfish, urchins, and anemones reminded me how essential the ocean’s are for our world. And that we need to do all we can to help them flourish.

Museum of Illusions

My brain literally hurt after leaving the Museum of Illusions—in the best possible way. If you want a fantastic work out for your mind, you’ll get it here. We left there with our jaws dragging on the ground. I want to go back and do it all again!

Casa Loma

Don’t mind me, just living out my fairy tale dreams at Casa Loma! I love going to the castle. For the most part, I’ve been going to Casa Loma for events (fashion parties, the haunted house, etc.) but it was nice to go during the day and have a chance to really look around and enjoy the gorgeous sights.

Bata Shoe Museum

Shoes, shoes and more shoes. What’s not to love? They have a fabulous exhibit on right now called WANT. It’s all about the depression era and footwear of that time. I’d definitely recommend you check it out if you’re planning to see Toronto now.

Another place worth mentioning is the Royal Ontario Museum. I didn’t head there on this weekend because I’ve been there about a million times already. I love going to their Friday Night Live parties. If you’re in the city when that’s going on, definitely check it out.

One thing I would recommend if you’re getting a Toronto Attractions Passport is to check in with venues before going. We had an unfortunate experience at TIFF Bell Lightbox and were rudely turned away. I was so looking forward to seeing their screening of The Shining. (We’ve been on a major thriller kick lately.) Oh well, now we know for next time.
