Toronto Fashion Week Has Been Cancelled but I’m Not Devastated & Here’s Why

Toronto Fashion Week has been cancelled. People are freaking out. The city is shocked. When you’re used to seeing the glass – of champagne – half full, it’s hard to think about it being empty. But even with Toronto Fashion Week cancelled (one of my favourite times of year) I’m really not that devastated. Before you judge my opinion as being too harsh (but it’s our fashion week!!)—let me explain.

Toronto Fashion Week Cancelled? Well, I’m Not Devastated

Toronto Fashion Week was cancelled because it wasn’t being sponsored in the way it needed to be. If something isn’t working out how you think it should, shouldn’t you be thinking of ways to make it better? To improve it? If cancelling Toronto Fashion Week until that’s able to be done is the way to achieve that, then maybe that’s for the best.

It’s definitely sad, I’ll admit that. Even though I’ve lived in Toronto for two years and have made it to only four seasons of Toronto Fashion Week, I really look forward to those weeks and seeing all my fashion friends that I don’t see on the daily.

You know the saying “you don’t know what you’ve got ’till it’s gone”? Now is the time for people to realize how important Toronto Fashion Week was to the city (and fashion lovers across the country) and come together to make it even better than before.

It’s not gone forever.

We’re just moving on to bigger and better things people! Personally, I want our own Toronto Fashion Week to rank amongst the best in the world. We’ve got the talent, don’t we? Why continue on with something you’re not happy with when you can shut down, rebuild and come back better than ever?

Plus, now we’ve all got a little more time to plan those outrageously cool outfits, make new blogger friends to attend the shows with and give other events the time of day that we might not have before.

The best is yet to come!
