We have this carefree spirit in the summertime that’s all about enjoying the moment. It’s like for a few months when the sun is shining we want to make today amazing. After all, we’ve only got one life to live. So why waste it away striving for anything less? Every single day of your life should be incredible.

Of course, not every part of each day is going to be. That’s just life. But we take the good with the bad and vice versa. By the same token, just because a day doesn’t seem completely amazing at first, it doesn’t mean it’s not. A lot of the time looking back at something in hindsight can make it seem a whole lot better.

How will you make today amazing? Here are 3 amazing things in my life:

This past month has truly been a great one. My focus has been on making every day amazing – and while not all days have been, the majority were and that’s what counts. Remember: quality over quantity. Here are three amazing things that happened to me last month. (Not to brag or anything.)

First, I celebrated my one-year anniversary with the man of my dreams at Pantages Hotel. I swear, I was living off the amazingness of that for days after. We had the most incredible time! Rose petals, champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries. It was everything we could have dreamed of to celebrate our year together.

Second, I ended up scoring a bunch of new freelance projects. Working as a freelance journalist is something that I had never considered as a career path in the past. It honestly just had never crossed my mind. Yet somehow, here I am. I’ve been struggling with finding a way to calm my nerves between projects – something I haven’t quite mastered yet. You know, the stress of ‘will I get enough work to pay rent this month?!‘ I haven’t even been anywhere close to not paying my rent but my mind tends to slip into worst case scenarios.

Last but not least, I’ve started using this journal again that my cousin gave me for Christmas one year in Sydney. It’s called “I’m Kind of Awesome” and essentially what you do is answer prompts in the book about things that made you feel good or things that you accomplished that day. No negative energy! It’s been really helpful in guiding me to see more positives in my life.

So, what are you going to do to make today amazing?
