Fall is here in full force and winter is, sadly, not that far behind. Don’t fret, I have a simple solution that will having you smiling all season long (every pun intended). I’m calling House of Knot to the rescue!
For those of you who haven’t heard about House of Knot (if you’re from Toronto, it’s pretty hard not to), they’re a Toronto-based knitwear company founded by Katherine Phan in 2010. When I say knitwear, I literally mean real, chunky, wooly knits – all hand knitted by Katherine herself. How impressive is that?
Simple Smiles & Co. is the best way to stay stylish and warm in these chilly months. From gloves, toques, cowls and capes, Katherine does it all – plus custom made pieces. She even makes insanely cool knitted jumpsuits and dresses that have been on the runway at Fashion Art Toronto and at Gallery 1313’s Fantasy Fashion Show, to name a few.
If I had to compliment Katherine on one thing, it’d probably be the fact that she makes knitting look chic. Forget old grannies knitting socks in their rockers, we’ve got a gorgeous women making knitted mini skirts!
Just to show you how marvellous knits really are, I did a little photo shoot wearing my Simple Smiles & Co. Pixie Cape from the Evergreen collection in the Distillery District. Be prepared to have a whole new outlook on knits!
What I’m wearing:
I’ve got a little bonus for you too. Right now (and for the rest of the week) you can get 15% off your purchase at SS&co by entering the code LLLxSS at the checkout!!! I’d recommend this cape because, well, I love it, but there are many other options for y’all to choose from – like the motto mitts, the ravine hood or the pixie shorts!
