Models are the “it” celebs right now. Think about it – would we even see street style snaps if it weren’t for Gigi, Kendall, Cara and Karlie? Who knows. What I do know is that these girls pull off effortless chic like no one else.

Here are some tips to have you rocking model status #ootd’s next time you’re out on the town.

1. Keep it simple

Models wear a lot of over-the-top, outrageous pieces on the runway so while they’re strutting down the sidewalk they tend to go for simpler pieces like jeans and a crew neck t-shirt. There are definitely ways to play with this look though.

2. Throw in a pattern – or two

Since the #ootd is pretty casual, it’s acceptable – if not essential – to thrown in something with a bold pattern or texture. If you’re going with the head-to-toe staple look of black on black, try a furry black coat with a black crocodile handbag.

3. Leather is always a winner

Whether you’re dressing up or dressing down, leather is always a great last minute thing to throw on. A leather jacket goes with absolutely everything. (Seriously, try and think of something a leather jacket would look terrible with.) If your leather jacket has a lot of bells & whistles – AKA zippers, studs, pockets, embossing – it’s a great piece to spice up a neutral look.
